As you navigate around this web site you will gather information about the College, including details about our curriculum areas where we are fully staffed with qualified teachers who are committed to our pursuit of excellence for all.  Being a large school our curriculum opportunities and facilities are extensive.

We are a Specialist Science College; the first to be designated in Hampshire and provide, as a comprehensive school, high quality education for approximately 1000 young people aged 11 - 16 years.  The Hurst is also a full service extended school offering education and facilities to parents and children during the evenings, after school, at weekends and in the holidays.  See the community links above or see  The Community Website for more information.

Our excellence has been recognised by many awarding bodies - we are holders of two DfES school achievement awards.  Investors in People, The Charter Mark, Artsmark (Silver), Sportsmark and most recently the Green Flag recognising our clear ethos of sustainability and environmental awareness.

I believe that success is achieved via partnership with parents and we ask parents to support our high standards of uniform, behaviour and work.  Visitors always remark about the excellent teamwork between staff and our warm and supportive atmosphere.  For example, Ofsted recently noted that our Care of pupils is "outstanding" and that their behaviour is "good".

I am very proud of The Hurst.  If you woud like any further details about the College, I would be very pleased to speak or meet with you.
